Part of the fun of having an Oculus Rift and being able to use Unity is building things that you want to see & experience if for no other reason than simply for the thrill of it.
Tornados have always fascinated me, so I decided to try my hand at creating some using Unity's particle systems. Having never seen one up close or in real life, I studied as much live action footage as I could find in an effort to best match their general appearance. There have been many different sizes, shapes, varieties of funnel clouds, and I'd like to simulate as many as possible. I started off with a basic, classic style single-funnel tornado, and followed it up with a multi-vortex system. I'll eventually get to the massive wedge-shaped and snakey rope-like varieties at some point as well.
I've built one of these tornado simulations for the GearVR as well.
